National Register of Historic Sites in Martin County, NC
Martin County's listings in the National Register of Historic Places are varied. You'll find "the best preserverd earthenworks Civil War site east of the Mississippi", complete with seven of the fort's original cannon. Commercial buildings include a former hotel, and a well-known oyster bar, still in operation. There are farms, homes, churches, a courthouse, and entire historic districts. The earliest site dates from 1800. Architectural styles include Greek Revival,Colonial Revival, Romanesque, Late Gothic Revival, Queen Anne, Late Victorian, Italianate, Federal, Georgian and Bungalow/Craftsman.
