This favorite oyster spot was opened in 1935 and keeps its unique, authentic atmosphere...the one that has brought attention from national media like the Good Morning America show, Gourmet magazine and Southern Living, among others.
In the original section of the Craftsman-style building, you'll find wooden booths well worn by over six decades of happy diners. There is no kitchen in this restaurant. Instead, you'll find expert oyster preparers gathered 'round the steamer out back. There's no slaw or hushpuppies either; only oysters, shrimp, scallops and crablegs served with melted butter or Sunny Side's special sauce and a side of saltines. Oh yes, there's beer, too. And with a little luck, you'll even catch one of the live perfermances by area musicians. |
